Mark Schaafsma

With over 35 years of construction experience, Mark Schaafsma is an accomplished and in-demand Michigan builder. Mark started his career with one of the largest general contractors in West Michigan where he gained experience in a wide variety of projects.

In 1993, Mark formed his own company, Mark Schaafsma Design Build (MSDB) specializing in the design and construction of breweries, franchises, commercial build outs and new commercial construction. From small to large projects, MSDB provides on-time and on-budget construction and management services.

My experience in all areas of construction management and building maintenance has been gleaned from more than 35 years of various construction projects. My many years of construction management experience have given me insight and proficiency on all levels. While overseeing crews of 3 to as many as 200+ my projects have always been safe, clean, deliberate and organized.

The projects that I have been involved with have always been completed on time and on budget. Planning, organization and communication are some of my best assets and have served me well in my career. Listening and the ability to make decisions have helped me bring success to the project and the customer.

My abilities included a full understanding and comprehension of blueprint reading, site plans, isometric drawings and schematics, as well as structural and steel drawings for both commercial and residential plans. I can utilize existing resources keeping projects at or below budget while enhancing the final outcome.

I have also worked with architects and engineers to design and implement cost effective designs. I have the knowledge and abilities to lead and coordinate the job and utilize a crew to accomplish a given task.

An integrity driven, unflappable, organized professional eager for growth. As an experience referee I have mastered the art of establishing credibility, conflict resolution and leveraging resources. Obtaining key experiences within the marketing and project management field defines and facilitates my future career track in the business industry. Additionally, I strive to couple my education and my previous experience to create successful project outcomes.

In four years I have accomplished a double degree in business management and marketing from Cornerstone University. These bachelors of science degrees sharpened communication, organizational and time management skills. Interning with Aquent LLC, I have mastered the art of measuring fit and function. Engaging with leadership, I gained guidance ensuring a successful project outcome.
